Selina Mokangkang was born on August 31, 1975, in Free State and currently lives in Orange Farm, Gauteng. She is a devoted Christian and has a passion for cooking and baking. Selina finds it incredibly satisfying to create delicious treats from scratch for herself and her family. She also enjoys listening to music, particularly Jazz and Gospel and recently discovered her love for aerobics.

In 1994, Sellina and her siblings moved from Free State to Johannesburg after their grandparents passed away, leaving them with no one else to look after them. Life was very challenging during this time as they were unsure about their future. Selina was in standard 9 at that time, which made things even more difficult as a young girl child. By standard 11, she found herself in a situation where she had to start working to support her younger brother and herself. Since then, Sellina has held several piece jobs and worked in various places, including Fish and Chips franchises and Bakeries.

Currently, she is involved in volunteer work and giving back to her community wherever she can. Specifically, through feeding schemes, Sellina cooks for those who are struggling in her community and provides them with food to take home so that they don’t have to go to bed with empty stomachs. She funds all the resources she offers from her own pockets. Recently, she was introduced to an organization under NeSco Africa, which showed interest in the volunteer work that she does and is willing to lend a helping hand here and there. She is proud to say that some of the vegetables they cook are fresh from the ground, such as spinach, cabbage, carrots, etc.

Through her work, Sellina has learned that perseverance is key, and one should never give up, no matter how hard things may be. She has also learned to put her faith in God, whom she trusts to fight for her whenever she needs him. She advises others to live humbly and love one another, as help will come in the end. Put your trust in God and always rely on him.
